Mission Statement, Philosophy, Goals

Grandma Dee Reading at the Book BarnOur Mission
To work as a team to serve our community with a safe healthy nurturing magical atmosphere where children become self-sufficient, self-reliant and self-disciplined with positive self images.

Our Philosophy
Children who feel accepted and loved in a safe and healthy environment are more able to learn. It is our job in Early Childhood to prepare children for learning. The staff and children must learn how to learn. Children are learning to be in charge of themselves and to be responsible for their actions. In order to support this “in charge” development we use cause and effect principles and natural and logical consequences. Our children are real people. They have situations similar to situations adults have.

Children are respected for their individuality. In our program we must live together and enjoy our time. Children who exhibit a positive self-image are more likely to be enthusiastic lifelong learners. Play is an important part of a child’s growth as they learn to solve simple problems, imitate the actions of others, explore using all of their senses, and see that they have an effect on their environment.

Staff members support all aspects of each child’s positive development. The strength of our program is the dedication and continuing education of the staff. We provide many opportunities for our teachers to share ideas and grow professionally.

Parents are the most important individuals in a child’s life. We strive to promote and encourage as much parent involvement as possible. We encourage daily communication between parents and teachers.

Things we do to work towards our mission:

  • Family style meals
  • Logical consequences for discipline
  • Indoor and outdoor safety checks
  • Wash hands
  • Organize interest areas to facilitate learning – labels, variety of materials, low and open shelves
  • Predictable daily schedules including time for self select activities
  • Children participate in decision-making, and we promote parent involvement to learn more about each family

Our Goals
To develop children socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
To create socially competent, lifelong, enthusiastic learners.
